if you are looking for the wheel stand comparison review of Gt Omega Classic Vs Apex, this article is for you. Don’t go anywhere, Keep reading.
Just as we unboxed gaming gadgets every week or so. This time we bought racing wheels from the same brand GT Omega but with a different model named Classic and Apex.
During several weeks of use, we were satisfied with the realistic driving experience as per the price point. The most appreciated feature that standouts in both of the models is compatibility with a variety of racing wheels as we tested.
The GT Omega classic wheel stand is a more affordable and compact option for sim racing enthusiasts who have limited space or budget, but still want a sturdy and adjustable wheel stand.
On the other hand, the GT Omega APEX wheel stand is a more premium option, with a steel frame construction and a more ergonomic design that offers better adjustability and support for longer racing sessions to us.
In this walkthrough guide, we will discuss and share our first-hand experience of the noticeable differences in performance and built differently involving the recent buyer reviews.

GT Omega is a reputable brand that manufactures high-quality wheel stands for gaming enthusiasts. They are dedicated to providing their customers with a superior gaming experience through their innovative designs, quality materials, and excellent customer service. GT Omega’s wheel stands are designed to be compatible with all major racing wheel brands and feature pre-drilled mounting plates for easy installation. They are also highly adjustable to suit individual preferences and offer exceptional stability during gameplay. GT Omega prides itself on its commitment to providing gaming enthusiasts with top-of-the-line products that are built to last, ensuring a comfortable and immersive gaming experience for years to come.
GT Omega Classic
Let’s begin with the arrival and unboxing experience of the GT Omega classic model. It was a heavy package to lift for us which gave me an indication of its quality. So, we decided to do it on the ground floor instead of upstairs.
At first look, the stand was carefully packaged in its own box with all accessories in separate packaging or boxes within the main box. See the picture below.
The packaging was well protected from any sort of damage that could occur during transit. The stand is also easy to carry.
Assembling the stand was straightforward and took around 30 minutes from start to finish. The major plus point was the stand came almost fully assembled, with only the gear shifter arm missing, which was shipped in a separate box.
The instructions provided were brief and easy to understand to us. There were even some cool GT Omega stickers included in the box for customization.
The stand features multiple hand bolts to secure the height-adjustable wheel plate mounts and two handle bolts to secure the entire wheel plate arm assembly.
These bolts were easy to screw into place, and the adjustable parts of the stand were intuitive and straightforward to manipulate.
During testing, we found it fits the purpose of compatibility of steering wheels, pedals, and gear shifter mounts designed for models like Logitech G25 and G29, Thrustmaster T500RS, T300RS, and Fanatec Clubsport.
Gt Omega Apex
GT Omega Apex was not on arrival time but with a positive experience. Upon opening the box, I was impressed with how well-built the wheel stand was. It was equally heavy which signifies the quality.
Experiencing the straightforward process, the wheel stand came almost entirely assembled similar to the classic. It was a simple and quick operation to install the shifter mount, wheel plate, and feet. See the picture below.
The mounting plates on the GT Omega Apex wheel stand come pre-drilled, providing plenty of options to mount your racing wheel to.
The stand is fully compatible with all brands of racing wheels. On this wheel stand, I installed my Logitech G923 and my Fanatec DD1, and both installations were rather simple. For increased stability, I advise firmly mounting your equipment with screws.
I had a hard time getting into a comfortable racing position after finishing setup. During testing, we discovered that the wheel stand’s design requires you to either have very short legs or sit in a highly upright driving position.
I struggled to put the pedals far enough apart and cross the wheel over my lap to be completely comfortable. The GT Omega Apex is not the only wheel stand that has this issue; other wheel stands do too.
Although the GT Omega apex’s chassis may be adjusted, we found it difficult to concurrently change the wheel’s height and distance. To move the wheel closer to my chest, I had to lift it, but doing so made it too high.
My gaming chair had to be raised in order for me to race with the wheel somewhat higher than I was comfortable with.
After using the product for a few weeks, we also experienced a slight problem with the wheel mount, which features angle adjustments.
A few occasions when driving aggressively, the angle adjustment on the wheel plate broke free, causing the entire wheel to slide. The bolt has to be overtightened in order to stop this from happening again.
Gt Omega Classic Vs Apex: Comparison
GT Omega Classic Vs Apex: Built Difference
During testing, we found there is a built difference but sturdy in both of the cases. We called them fabulous.
Both the GT Omega classic as well as Apex wheel stands are built with sturdy steel frames that ensure their stability during play. The GT Omega Classic weighs 12 kilos and is made of steel box tubing with a black powder-coated finish. See the picture below.
Similarly, the GT Omega Apex wheel stand is constructed with heavy-duty steel, and its design eliminates flex and movement. See the picture below.
Additionally, both products feature well-engineered designs with attention to detail as tested. For instance, the GT Omega Classic comes with adjustable knobs for the height, tilt, and angle of the wheel, as well as the position of the pedals. In comparison, the GT Omega Apex wheel stand includes a shifter mount and a range of Velcro cable tidies.
GT Omega Classic Vs Apex: Performance Difference
Moving on to the performance, both the GT Omega Classic and Apex wheel stands remained stable during our play-testing. However, the Apex wheel stand performed exceptionally well compared to the Classic, which was bit movement under pressure. See the picture below.
On the other hand, the GT Omega Apex wheel stand remained deadly still, even when compared to other products such as Next Level Racing’s F-GT and Wheel Stand, which suffer from pedal plate flexing.
Drifting, which is always a good test for a sim rig, proved to be no challenge for the GT Omega Apex wheel stand, as it did not rock even a bit. Both products come pre-drilled with mounting points for all main brand racing wheels, but the shifter mount in the Apex wheel stand is not well designed and may require hard mounting.
Gt Omega Classic Vs Apex: Price and Portability
The GT Omega Classic is more affordable, retailing under £120, compared to the GT Omega Apex, which is more expensive. However, the price difference is justified by the Apex’s superior design and performance.
Both products are easy to assemble, with the GT Omega Classic they can also take 10 to 15 minutes to set up. They are also easy to preserve. Being not so heavy we mean more lightweight and portable. The buyer of both models are huge in number explaining them as excellent choices for gamers who do not have a lot of space or budget for a full rig.

The writer is seeking advice on purchasing a wheel stand for their gaming setup. They cannot afford to spend more than $300 and are considering purchasing the GT Omega. However, they want to know the difference between the GT Omega and the GT Omega Apex and if the extra $50 for the latter is worth it. The community suggests the GT Omega Apex is more solid than the classic version, but it is heavier and not as easily collapsible for storage. They recommend using caster wheels if the stand needs to be moved frequently. The community also advises against buying the Playseat Challenge/Evolution as it is less sturdy than the GT Omega Apex. One member suggests buying the PSC as it is compact and sturdy, and they found it more preferable to the GT Omega. However, the original poster prefers a chair attached to the stand and will likely purchase the GT Omega as advised by some community members.
After extensively testing the GT Omega Classic and Apex wheel stands, we can conclude that both stands provide a realistic driving experience and are compatible with a variety of racing wheels. The Classic model is a more affordable and compact option suitable for those with limited space and budget, while the Apex model is a more premium option with better adjustability and support for longer racing sessions.
Both models are built with sturdy steel frames and feature well-engineered designs with attention to detail. However, the Apex model has some design limitations that make it difficult to find a comfortable racing position, and the angle adjustment on the wheel plate may come loose during aggressive driving.
Overall, both stands are excellent options for sim racing enthusiasts, and the choice between them will ultimately come down to personal preferences and specific needs.
