Let’s begin with the arrival and unboxing experience of the GT Omega classic model. It was a heavy package to lift for us which gave me an indication of its quality. So, we decided to do it on the ground floor instead of upstairs.

At first look, the stand was carefully packaged in its own box with all accessories in separate packaging or boxes within the main box. See the picture below.

The packaging was well protected from any sort of damage that could occur during transit. The stand is also easy to carry.

Assembling the stand was straightforward and took around 30 minutes from start to finish. The major plus point was the stand came almost fully assembled, with only the gear shifter arm missing, which was shipped in a separate box.

The instructions provided were brief and easy to understand to us. There were even some cool GT Omega stickers included in the box for customization.

The stand features multiple hand bolts to secure the height-adjustable wheel plate mounts and two handle bolts to secure the entire wheel plate arm assembly.

These bolts were easy to screw into place, and the adjustable parts of the stand were intuitive and straightforward to manipulate.

During testing, we found it fits the purpose of compatibility of steering wheels, pedals, and gear shifter mounts designed for models like Logitech G25 and G29, Thrustmaster T500RS, T300RS, and Fanatec Clubsport.

GT Omega Apex was not on arrival time but with a positive experience. Upon opening the box, I was impressed with how well-built the wheel stand was. It was equally heavy which signifies the quality.

Experiencing the straightforward process, the wheel stand came almost entirely assembled similar to the classic. It was a simple and quick operation to install the shifter mount, wheel plate, and feet. See the picture below.

The mounting plates on the GT Omega Apex wheel stand come pre-drilled, providing plenty of options to mount your racing wheel to.

The stand is fully compatible with all brands of racing wheels. On this wheel stand, I installed my Logitech G923 and my Fanatec DD1, and both installations were rather simple. For increased stability, I advise firmly mounting your equipment with screws.

I had a hard time getting into a comfortable racing position after finishing setup. During testing, we discovered that the wheel stand’s design requires you to either have very short legs or sit in a highly upright driving position.

I struggled to put the pedals far enough apart and cross the wheel over my lap to be completely comfortable. The GT Omega Apex is not the only wheel stand that has this issue; other wheel stands do too.

Although the GT Omega apex’s chassis may be adjusted, we found it difficult to concurrently change the wheel’s height and distance. To move the wheel closer to my chest, I had to lift it, but doing so made it too high.

My gaming chair had to be raised in order for me to race with the wheel somewhat higher than I was comfortable with.

After using the product for a few weeks, we also experienced a slight problem with the wheel mount, which features angle adjustments.

A few occasions when driving aggressively, the angle adjustment on the wheel plate broke free, causing the entire wheel to slide. The bolt has to be overtightened in order to stop this from happening again.

GT Omega Classic Vs Apex: Built Difference

During testing, we found there is a built difference but sturdy in both of the cases. We called them fabulous.

Both the GT Omega classic as well as Apex wheel stands are built with sturdy steel frames that ensure their stability during play. The GT Omega Classic weighs 12 kilos and is made of steel box tubing with a black powder-coated finish. See the picture below.

Similarly, the GT Omega Apex wheel stand is constructed with heavy-duty steel, and its design eliminates flex and movement. See the picture below.

Additionally, both products feature well-engineered designs with attention to detail as tested. For instance, the GT Omega Classic comes with adjustable knobs for the height, tilt, and angle of the wheel, as well as the position of the pedals. In comparison, the GT Omega Apex wheel stand includes a shifter mount and a range of Velcro cable tidies.

Drifting, which is always a good test for a sim rig, proved to be no challenge for the GT Omega Apex wheel stand, as it did not rock even a bit. Both products come pre-drilled with mounting points for all main brand racing wheels, but the shifter mount in the Apex wheel stand is not well designed and may require hard mounting.

Both products are easy to assemble, with the GT Omega Classic they can also take 10 to 15 minutes to set up. They are also easy to preserve. Being not so heavy we mean more lightweight and portable. The buyer of both models are huge in number explaining them as excellent choices for gamers who do not have a lot of space or budget for a full rig.
